About Us

Established in 2009, Books to Prisons is a nonprofit organization that sends free books to incarcerated individuals in Alabama and Texas. We are based in Birmingham, Alabama, as a satellite of the D.C. area Books to Prisons project. Our library is housed in the Canterbury United Methodist Church where we send out over 100 packages
per month to different incarcerated individuals.
